@enfy Theoretically, that was Nightmare Moon's castle from 1000 years ago. Celestia has the one in Canterlot, while Nightmare Moon had the one in the Everfree Forest. When Nightmare Moon was imprisoned, nopony bothered to maintain the castle and it fell into ruin. The Elements of Harmony were still there because that's where Celestia used them to banish Nightmare Moon. Of course, I'm completely making all this up on the fly! #WordOfGherkin

More #WordOfGherkin: "everybody" is a generally archaic word replaced by "everypony" in pony society. Granny Smith, who is really old, uses it in "Griffon the Brush Off". Spike also uses it in "The Return of Harmony, Part Two", since he's a dragon and not a pony.

#WordOfGherkin Ponies do have the words "hands" and "feet" in their lexicon and generally use them as figures of speech. They come from other species that do have hands and feet (such as dragons), though many assume "hand" to come from card games and "feet" to come from furniture.
