Yay, we're back online... I at first thought my internet had died
-
I ended seeing what was on the news on tv by accident and it was a fuel shortage caused by people over-buying, "panic-buying", fuel because of rumours of a meeting where truck drivers will talk about maybe striking... I facehoofed, a couple of times.

@greydragon412 Diaspora is an free software alternative to Facebook, it can be self-hosted or you can just register to an already hosted node
-
@scribus ofcouse not, I just like saying things (bit late reply) :D
-
Actually someone mentioned ponysqaure, does anyone know if that's diaspora or did some devs go crazy one night and dev up that whole site??
-
Well ponies, I certainly got a little warm typing all that (I'm not even overweight at all I'm just a nerd) so I'm going to get a tea and splash my face! ^^;
-
@ponyray The hair loaded, then the rest. ;_; it's... beautiful!!
-
alluminium = al-u(oo)-min-ium | not aloo-min-um | just saying, mad brit here :D
-
@ponyray You have my attention.
-
So many ponies are learning so much right now :D It's like school, times a billion, plus education, minus bad sandwiches!
-
@toksyuryel *BSD OS use a lot of GNU tools still but they prefer stuff under the BSD license since it doesn't have any requirements, it's prettymuch the ultimate liberal license in that it only says "the ponies you got this software from aren't responsible if something goes wrong" and that's it (I think)
-
@omni PC-BSD, it's FreeBSD with a binary package manager and the option of KDE(primary), GNOME(I assume latest so 3), and 'experimental' XFCE, LXDE, Awesome WM, since they only had KDE until the latest released; the issue with FreeBSD is the same Gentoo has, everything needs to be compiled, there is a binary system in FreeBSD but it's not their priority to maintain and such aparently. I've never really been able to try it easy, I think I get issues with hardware nad stuff but I'm prone to issues other people don't get *ears droop* but yea, PC-BSD for personal use, FreeBSD for home; openBSD is security programmers' playground. (another long post ^^; )
-
@mrdragon really 5~% is actually pretty darn good; I guess this being StatusNet lost a good 30-40% of the IE users and of-course the rest are being forced by their IE-fanpony parents to use IE for their pony-related activities; they're like pinkie pie's family xD
-
@mrdragon *sighs* oh thank celestia, I was thinking for moment that it'd already been a thousand years and all those IE users had returned from the moon already!
-
@omni @toksyurye Well I've always wondered why FreeBSD/Linux distros don't exist/aren't more popular, FreeBSD always sounds so nice and stable and feature rich for the user and even the hardcore servermaster but the kernel isn't a 'linux' (it's not that big i'm saying ^^; )
-
@toksyuryel *brains explodes with sonic rainbow deep inside my head*
-
@mrdragon It sounds like you're in a position of power, you must consider what you publish more carefully, stats like that could destroy the ENTIRE FANDOM. IE USERS, HERE?! I'm sure you JEST but regardless, that was superduper recless! <3
-
@omni lol the numbers were certainly 386BSD's cheif mistake, not all the licensed code being used against it's terms and the following lawsuits surrounding it :P
-
@omni I as gnulinux quickly, so people who understand will understand and those who aren't mushy-brained can ask once and understand and the people who are can just nod and continue listening; althought it is incorrect (not saying you aren't aware ;)) to say GNU Linux, that implies Linux is a product of the GNU Project, which it is not, hence the slash, just slashes aren't nice to say out loud and like I said, people will understand what you implied =D
-
@ceruleanspark You said it so well you can have a heterosexual kiss. and it will awkward. and we will think about it for many minutes after. but we will deny this. and it will be quiet. and people will wonder. what. in equestria. just happened.
-
HOLY SH-A-BOOZY I think I've sparked FOSS-convo, may Celestia have mercy on people's StatusNet clients!!
-
@xgsymarley dem boots
-
@techdisk42 "A place of great interconnectivity, of friendship and brotherhood, that has left behind stigma and prejustice of the past and present which exists to bring people together and to bridge the river of haters with a dragon's back whom is eternally grateful for one ponies contribution to the continuation of his moustache, this is RainbowDash Network, a place of hooves and bros" then brohoof towards the class and hope they are too stunned to think :D
-
@techdisk42 EDUCATE DEM FILLIES, THEY MUST KNOW THESE THINGS! GNU/Linux is the operating system, Linux is the kernel, both are despencable, the naming controversy exists I think mainly because Linux is one big project and program and it unpins everything but GNU is a collection of programs (a very critial and necassary and awesome collection but still just a collection) so people gravitate to thinking linux is more important but this is proven not to be the case since the Debian project and even the Arch Linux project have made versions of their distros not based on Linux (they're based on Hurd and kfreebsd, completely different kernels) but they keep the GNU userland because they prettymuch neeeeeeed it (soz I splurged info again)
-
*is that unsure kind of flattered where people don't believe you pony'd it up*
-
@techdisk42 All this pony
-
LOOOL, I just realised that means I just wrote something BIGGER than most college papers need to be xD :ponyshrug: AND I'D DO IT AGAIN
-
@mrdragon I only stopped because I hit the character limit
-
It occured to me while I was writing that post, was I a bad pony?
-
sorryeverypony,igotexcited.again.
