    @bobo Yeah, having a GIF makes sense, and I can see having a JS-animated PNG be the primary method if they actually stored it in a way that wasn't redundant but... if you're converting an indexed image to a format that supports indexed images, why waste space making the resulting file truecolor?

    I got curious and actually opened the logo file in a hex editor. It's... RGBA 8888. There's also a backup image it shows that's a GIF, though, and those have to be indexed 256 color with one index for transparent, so... why not store the PNG atlas in the same way?

    @tiffany An RGBA 5551 format image would be quicker to download than an RGBA 8888 format image at the expense of not having a full alpha channel so you can excuse the edges on that logo assuming that's the reason it turned out like that
