aaaaand today I've learned that you can fork over twenty bucks to Microsoft, be registered as an "app developer", and then install homebrew and emulators and stuff on your Xbox without having to jailbreak it or anything like that. This was a good purchase.

(But on the flip side of that, PlayStation emulators are widely available and relatively easy to get working.)

For $300, you could do a lot worse in terms of gaming hardware than an Xbox Series S. I purchased one recently in order to regain access to a pretty sizable library of Xbox and Xbox 360 games which were never ported to PC, among them Red Dead Redemption, Saints Row, and Metal Gear Solid: Peace Walker (the other MGS games are a different story - due to licensing issues the digital versions of 2 & 3 aren’t available to purchase anymore). Given the abysmal state of Xbox emulation on PC, the console has great value as an avenue to play a lot of older games and Sony really missed an opportunity by not attempting something similar with the PS5.

President Lawton in GTA V was President in both that game (summer-fall 2013) and GTA IV (fall 2008). Assuming his first term started in 2005, he’s been President for longer than is constitutionally allowed - his last day in office should have been January 20th, 2013. These are the things I think about when I consume media.

Futurama has a baked in start date of December 31st, 2999, and the show takes place roughly in real time (+1000 years), so Fry and Leela should be in their late 40s by now but they both look twenty. Plastic surgery must be really, really good in the future.

My new Wacom pens have arrived, one clone of my old one and one much thinner one, both came with felt tips in addition to the standard plastic ones so we’ll see how well they serve me in the 6-12 months they’ll be functional

I like personal freedom, but I don’t know if Americans should be toking it up on their decks. I mean, what if a kid is trespassing and he sees that?

i think i might be completely out of touch with this generation. when i was a kid, if you got caught stealing beer, that meant you went and tried at a different store. these days kids come into the same store multiple times in one night without even so much as checking to make sure that the manager who caught you last time isn't still there.

Wacom pens are actually a genius business idea because these things are so kiwiing fragile and i've never had one last more than two years despite the incredible care i treat them with. they're the only thing that works with most wacom tablets, and wacom tablets in turn are the most heavily supported ones so you're neutering yourself if you get something else. the result is that i have to buy a new $100 pen for my $1000 cintiq every couple of years.

TS4MP by the way is a fantastic mod that works way better than I was expecting it to. Even as the game’s started crumbling under the weight of the insane, psychotic bullmango I’ve been throwing at it, that crumbling has been synchronized to near perfection!

I’m not sure if The Sims 4 generates new sims to replace ones that have died but if not my neighborhood is going to be literally extinct in a couple of generations because nobody will be able to marry each other. This is the plan. I have not let my friends in on it yet. I’m hoping by the time they find out it’s too late to stop me.
