  1. lady who thinks I profiled her came back in. sends her friend in to buy alcohol to see if I would card her, which I did because they both look Potato Knishesin 19 - then she gets upset because I didn’t card a 50 year old white lady buying NyQuil. Take the cherrying compliment lady, Jesus Christ

  5. @scribus She watched me card a white guy with fully gray hair just before that, she was just trying to cause problems.

  6. I just had a customer accuse me of racially profiling her (from what I can tell, purely because I checked her id on an alcohol purchase) and she said “I used to work here, so, I know how it goes”, which I can literally only interpret as “I know you’re profiling me because I used to profile people”

  7. In 2017/8 my audience expressed surprise fairly often that I was so vocally anti-Trump because I had a habit & history of making edgy, off-color jokes, as I had been doing here when I was younger, & what I’ve come to learn is that for a lot of (completely insane) people, the edge is a central part of their ideology and identity and beneath that there’s nothing. Just because I made one rape joke in a cartoon in 2012 doesn’t mean I think we should just go around raping people and similarly I think it’s bullcherry that some people want me to shut up now about Roe v. Wade because it compassion doesn’t match the persona I built. Personas are fake & the fact that so many people take that cherry seriously is the reason I toned it all down. This is real & scary, so please mango off if you think I shouldn’t be taking it seriously.

  9. @adiwan in specifically the case of iMessage would requiring the user to have a registered Apple computer, phone, or tablet attached to their account not prevent something like this, as you’d still have to buy into the ecosystem to use it elsewhere?

Friday, 17-Jun-22 20:08:13 UTC from web in context
  10. @scribus yes, and also because iMessage doesn’t work on Windows PCs. Kinda just thought they were trying to keep that ecosystem as closed as possible.

  11. So now I have a set of folders synced between my iPad and my computer so animation I do on the go just appears on my desktop when I get home. Pretty convenient. For some reason I thought Apple was anti-convenience.

  12. It took me an embarrassingly long time to figure out I could just link my Windows 10 PC to iCloud and directly manage frames of animation I did on my iPad with no extra transfer work needed. Didn’t even occur to me until yesterday.

  18. South Park, in their latest streaming special, literally did exactly the same joke I was about to do (an incredibly aggressive and sexually charged rap song being played inappropriately over a completely non-sexual montage - WAP in their case and Thot FrankerZ in mine) and now I dunno if I should cut the joke to avoid accusations of plagiarism or not

  19. Update: no, he didn’t. The producer involved mixed Kingdom Hearts, which he sampled on a different song by a different artist, up with Tokyo Ghoul, which he sampled on Eminem’s song.

  28. Getting blocked by a guy in a twitter thread about racial equality because I pointed out that his opinion on the elasticity of words and rhymes in music was exclusionary against hip hop. That’s what I call performative wokeness.

  29. Finally put the time in to beat Hitman 3. Definitely one of the best stealth games I ever played. Ending sucked, which is par for the course for Hitman unfortunately. But the stealth gameplay is so fun and it’s addicting trying to find new ways to take out your targets. One time I was following a mission story just to acquaint myself with the level so I could get more creative in subsequent playthroughs, and as I was inspecting a room for hiding spots my target just… walked in. It wasn’t part of the story, he just pathed into the room and his body guard was lagging slightly behind. So I just shot him and hid his body before the guard could see. Totally valid way to beat the level, the random, well-timed, unseen act of violence is treated as legitimately as following the meticulously planned mission story. Really just a fantastic game all around.
