  5. @tiffany that's ok Tiff, you did what you had to do.
and you need to realize that, if you'd go back in time, you'd still do the same, because you are you, and the Tiff that made that decision was also you.
I need you to close your eyes, take a deep breath and say that to yourself
and this part is wierd, but I want you to use as many curse words as you can possibly fit in that sentence as you can when you say that to yourself
I don't know why it works, but it does

  11. @nerthos oh, no, they still have dogs, in fact they have had a dog problem for the last 50 or so years, but instead of neutering them, or just killing them in a painless way, THEY BEAT THEM TILL THEIR EYES EXPLODE, THEN BEAT THEM SOME MORE
I'm not exaggerating, look it up, it's bananaing disgusting, and a prime example why humans shouldn't be considered an evolved species

  22. Why doesn't this happen every time a female robot shows up in anime:
"and this is the new human-interface robot we have designed, she is stronger than 3 men, capable of talking in every language on the planet and has an autonomy of 900 years, rechargeable with sunlight"
"I see... why does it have big boobs tho?"
    "I'm sorry?"
"You know, the breasts, why are they so absurdly big, do they have any use? are there vital components stored inside?"
"n-n-no... they are just... we told you the robot was going to be female in appearance"
"yes, female, long hair, delicate features, wide hips, small shoulders, and yes breasts, but these... what's the cup size by the way?"
"hum, uhh, they are uh *coff* I-Cup *coff*"
"I-CUP?!? what is wrong with you people? This is supposed to be a military weapon, not a sex toy!!! Consider yourselves fired, I'm getting a new team on this project, one that isn't comprised of grown men that act like horny teenagers!"

  24. @scribus where would they get the harpoons tho?
metallurgy would be impossible underwater, and they don't seem able to stay,or stand, on land.
The harpoons could be made of just wood, but where would they get the wood in the 1st place?
coral would be a considerable option, but it doesn't grow long or straight enough to be used as a piercing weapon.
but if we are looking at tools a great option would be animal, more specifically crustacean body parts:
Fig. 1- The body shell of a Lady Crab) https://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/thumb/e/e8/Crab_from_Long_Island.jpg/1200px-Crab_from_Long_Island.jpg
those saw like edges would make a great slicing tool

also shells from bivalves could be used as cutting tools.
Disney would make us beleive that they'd make good bras as well, but considering that their breasts might change their size depending on the depth, they'd have to carry multiple sets at once

  25. @scribus another good question is, do they have nipples?
nipples are used as mammals to feed their young, but the mermaids body seems to be more suitable to external reproduction (i.e. placing eggs on the seabed and waiting for a male to fertilize them there).
This, however doesn't stop the young from needing milk.
(look at the echidna or platypus for examples of egg-laying milk drinkers)
the problem now gets to what do they eat to produce milk?
humans regularly get most of their calcium intake from vegetables, but mermaids seem to be more predator carnivore than omnivore, also algae doesn't grow past certain depths (considering that a feeding mother would either prefer to stay in the deep where the larger opportunist predators are fewer).
another option would be eating actual bone, but that only leads us back to the teeth debate

Friday, 16-Dec-16 05:57:48 UTC from web in context
  26. another question would be what do mermaids eat, besides sailors I mean;
    do they hunt smaller fish?
Cuz considering that the smaller the fish the faster it tends to be is a mermaid an ambush predator? due to the human torso not being very hydrodynamic I don't think they can chase prey that is smaller then them.
Or do they gather in packs to hunt larger prey?
If this is the case what do their teeth look like?
Cuz dealing enough damage to harm, say, a dolphin or a beluga would require piercing the fat layer. so, flat incisors wouldn't help, a mouth full of sharp needle, perhaps shark-like, teeth would be ideal.
but this still leaves behind the fact that the human jaw wasn't meant to rip flesh from a struggling target, in fact the open human mouth pales in comparison to the ones of it's close simian relatives, such as the chimp or the gorilla, with longer teeth and wider ranges of movement; and even so those are pathetic compared to the mouth of a shark, or simillar

  27. I have this theory about mermaids
their boobs aren't actually boobs, they are floatation bladders
they can fill them up with air, or another light gas, as they wish to allow them to rise/sink as they see fit
this also explains the whole big breasted mermaid thing, while on the surface they would need to be as big as possible, to displace more water and allow them to float more easily
while on the bottom they're probably as flat as a 3year old boy
