  1. @barcom That tax is a one time only thing. But I have to pay further taxes in the future for that plot of land and they are far lower.

  2. Ah F***!!!! Got a bill from the government for the tax for buying land. 11k€ down the drain. I knew I had to pay it before I got into thinking about buying a house. It still stings nonetheless. That's about 2800 comic issues!

  3. @barcom I'm sorry to say it: you've been in a coma for 10 years.

  4. @scribus Thanks. The bill was 65€ for that. I will certainly suffer for pleasure of owning a home, especially since there was nothing done for over 40 years and has still wallpaper from the late 70s. What has to be done: New switch box (solar power ready), new electric cables, new windows, roof isolation, the wilderness of a garden needs to be tamed. Also when I'm at it I'll lay down network cables everywhere, at least CAT7 and glass fiber.

  5. In a week I'll own a house! I'd be happier if the city wouldn't penny-pinch me. I had to pay a bill for something that the city should pay themselves: an investigation if the city has an interest in buying the house (first refusal right).

  6. Ugh... I hate it when I'm scolded for being "too direct". I'm beyond doing the dance of pleasantries and politeness. I got an email and responded with the least amount of words AND added the most relevant information to the information request. I said that I haven't worked with Java in a long time and have no experience with Spring Boot, as well as absolutely none with Javascript and Typescript, and a correction in a shared document in that mail.

  7. Riverdale is finally over. It was always a guilty pleasure show to me. It was so bad I couldn't look away. The performances were fine, as well as the props, the cinematography, and the actors. The story and direction were INSANE. It started as a murder mystery, then a forbidden student teacher relationship, then a serial murderer, then drugs and biker gangs, pen&paper RPG leading to the satanic panic, insane drug cooking nuns,... to vigilantism, and in the last seasons magic, an biblical apocalypse, time travel, super powers, and then finally a universe reset transporting the main cast to the 60s with a mind wipe from an angel and then in the end giving those memories back. Do I recommend it? Heck no. Was it a good watch? Not really. Was it an experience? YEAH.

  8. @zeldatra I also think 5 is the most varied in style and tone and side-stuff. I really enjoyed the taxi missions and wished there were more of them.

  9. In my Youtube recommendations a Babylon 5 video was recommended to me and I misread its title in a hilarious way. The title contained the word "Minbari", which is the name of a race in the Babylon 5 universe, and I misread it as "Minibar".

  10. @scribus You made me hesitate with your remark, however as I look up images of giraffes being born, they usually have spots.

  13. Achievement unlocked: I broke my bicycle chain by pedaling too hard. To be fair: the chain had tons of wear after 1500km-1800km and already at its end of life. The chain was jumping out of the sprockets a few times. A replacement chain is already in my possession and new ones are already ordered.

  18. The price some sellers asked for were unhinged. Someone had priced the most generic Game Boy games for 15€ each. Years ago I had seen them in the price range of 3 to 5€.

  19. Also I was at a flea market today. The last time was 3 years ago. I bought The Legend of Zelda Skyward Sword (Wii) for 17€.

  20. I was in a garden of a family member plucking apples half the day. We got about 30kg (66lb) off the trees. Sadly 20% of that was rotting on the trees. One tree was so bad it was shedding off almost all apples and barely any were left that were edible. The ones that fell off were rotting on the ground and had a distinct sweet fermented and alcohol-y smell.

  25. Watched Guardians of the Galaxy 3 and it was a nice romp and fun to watch. Shorty after I watched Valerian and the City of 1000 planets and it was just a miserable drag.

  26. First time changing the car battery. I'm energized. I guess I'll use the old car battery and use it to play with solar power or have it as a spare (needs to be charged first).

  27. In yesterday's D&D session I used my lizard familiar, placed it on my druid character's head, activated the feature to look through the familiar's eyes, and thusly gained 30ft darkvision. A poor man's Goggles of Night.

  28. That awkward feeling when trying to start the car's engine and realizing that the battery charge is too low. I used the car very rarely in the last two years. It has barely 5000km (about 3100 miles) down. Tomorrow I'll cycle to the car parts shop and buy a new one. Later I'll buy a car battery charger. I need the car very soon and I cannot wait that long to charge the damn thing.
