  1. @drinkingpony As far as I know only the server and expensive workstation CPUs have multi-socket motherboards.

  3. I'm preparing my CNC router for a minor upgrade. I plan to attach a plastic canvas cover for the rails and the threaded rod such that the crap I cut doesn't land on them. It's not an expensive upgrade or a technical improvement but more an improvement for maintenance and convenience. I was cutting some clear plastic (polystyrene) and that stuff was magically drawn to the lubricated rails and threaded rod. I had to wipe everything off and lubricate again.

  4. By now it's a tradition to change the "Han shoots first" scene with each new release. I was once on the purist side of the fandom who wanted the unaltered scene but now I've grown out of that attitude and just watch the drama from the outside with no emotional investment.

  7. @adiwan Haferkleie is oat bran in English and Haferflocken is oat flakes in English as far as the online translators say.

Tuesday, 12-Nov-19 15:23:47 UTC from web in context
  8. @drinkingpony "Haferkleie" is the stuff that remains in the sieve after sieving the ground oat (flour) like the shells and the outer layers of the oat seeds. "Haferflocken" is the oats being shaped into flakes (like corn flakes).

  11. I want to buy art from an artist (Joshua Wright https://joshuawrightart.bigcartel.com/ ) but always when I receive the Patreon notification email that his art is available it's already sold out.

  15. @drinkingpony To be honest: I'd be willing to pay for it just for the convenience sake but that limitation of access makes it very hard.

  19. It seems like that anything that remotely benefits the general populous in the USA is seen as socialist or communist by somebody in power with financial (self-)interest.

  20. @drinkingpony I sometimes eat mo(u)ld cheese like Brie or Camembert. I eat spread cheese more likely at the morning because I have sometimes problems swallowing chunkier stuff on the bread.

  21. @drinkingpony It was a spread cheese (with herbs) that was half hard and half liquid and it tasted/smelled like a blue cheese. Totally not it's supposed to be.

  23. @scribus Oh yeah Gargoyles. I haven't seen that in ages. I wonder how good it still holds up. All I can remember is that it was damn good at its time with a good emphasis on continuity and lore and tragedy.

  24. @drinkingpony It's not the greatest animated show (Amazing World of Gumball is) but it contains some entertainment that is not downright horrible. She-Ra is alright. 6/10. 3 out of 5 stars. It has definitely improved since its start. The characters are complex enough to appreciate the writing.

  25. The great thing about having vacation is that you can binge a new season when it is getting dropped. I watched all of She-Ra Season 4 today. Would I binge it if I had a normal work day: yes.

  27. @drinkingpony The customs office will send it back. I'd like to know what this random person from Donguang China has sent me. Lying and commit a fraud is not worth my time and the risk.

Monday, 04-Nov-19 10:45:02 UTC from web in context
  28. @drinkingpony I'd like to but without knowing the *exact* contents and a PayPal or Bank receipt (or similar) the customs office employee refused to hand it over. I don't want to commit a crime for cheap electronics and faking a receipt. Also I have to give the exact content description prior to opening the package and I cannot do that.

  29. Regarding the mysterious packet that I didn't order and is at the customs office: I cannot get it because I lack a confirmation of purchase. So I will never know what exactly was in there. It'll haunt me until death.
