"Where do you even find your comics?"
I browse through what's new in the "Previews Preorders". Usually I buy my regulars but sometimes I click through other items.
Usually I read the synopsis/description but that time I blanked.

"Was it an addon so you would not have to pay shipping or something ?"
I always pay shipping. Every time it's about 5€ (DHL). I get the things I pre-ordered delivered every month or so to keep the shipping costs in check.

  4. @drinkingpony in this case I bought it from www.archonia.com They sell a lot of different things, from manga to US comics to board games (English, Dutch, German)

  5. Whatever. I just regret my careless purchase that I'd not make otherwise.

  6. @scribus Well... I'm not that interested in reading romance stories. And to be completely honest: It was super bland despite of the romantic contents. It was a happy-go-lucky thing with a sudden villain out of nowhere and their shortly developed love SOLVES EVERYTHING. I don't mind other gender identities and their romances but that's not my groove in entertainment. The two mentioned keywords had me warned beforehand not to grab that because the likelihood of encountering such a story would have been very high (and is now at a 100% certainty in this case).

  7. I accidentally read an awfully bland LGBT comic and wasted money on that. I based my purchase on a very quick read over the description and cover. I missed the important keywords "romance" and "genderqueer".

  8. @thelastgherkin Before that they gave Twilight the wings of imagination by giving her a ton of books to read, which itself remind of wings when a book lies open.

  9. Since I have a physical little digital assistant speaker I doubt its usefulness. I can control my LG TV with it but I have to take an indirection over LG's service by adding "talk to LG" and the delay is massive 10 - 15 seconds until it is fully registered.

  10. I wanted to cut acrylic glass with my CNC but it gummed up very quickly. As I've read it's recommended to actively cool the cutting head with air or water to prevent that. With my machine it's practically impossible to cut acrylic glass with a cutting bit of 1mm diameter. I have to switch to a bit with a diameter bigger than 2mm with 1 flute to create big chips in order to get as much heat away as possible, and I have to crank up the cutting speed high (about 600mm/min) and use a very shallow cutting depth per pass (below 1mm). It's already late and I don't want to disturb my neighbors.

  11. I managed to snap my first bit on my CNC router. The stock slipped and the cut head rammed though additional thickness that the 1mm diameter bit couldn't handle.

  14. @drinkingpony the manual for "man" is not the most helpful in your situation.

  15. @drinkingpony the manual page "man rf". How the parameters work is widely dependent on the program you want to use. Some allow writing the parameters right after another (like "rm -rf") like "ls" and others are not (like mplayer or ffmpeg having a special order of parameters).

I hope it'll give me enough time for my projects and time to get my head clear. I need at least one week to wind down and be able to sleep longer than usual.

  26. @scribus Oh yeah. The incident today Fluffle Puffed me really up (and still does). Nothing happened but it was super scary. Very fitting for the Halloween season. And probably the only spook that affects me to my bones.
