  1. I believe a bird is eating my tomatoes. I had a low hanging tomato near an edge and it had a suspiciously deep hole.

  2. The apples are mostly sour, firm, mealy, and have a papery skin. The person who has planted the tree was a baker and used them to make apple pies. I ate a few of them fresh and they are OK, however they are excellent for apple sauce.

  3. A family member has a house with a garden and their apple trees have so many apples that they are falling on their own and rotting on the ground. My mother and I were picking apples today and we could only manage to get 30kg of apples before our baskets were full. Yet it barely a dent. There is still a ton hanging.

  4. @scribus A Tuesday after a long work-free weekend is a fake Monday to me. It's not a Monday but surely feels like one.

  5. This week I grabbed 3 IKEA Helmer metal drawer units, two for 15€ each and today one for 10€. I'm printing grids in overtime. Each drawer takes 3 hours for their grid to finish and there are 6 drawers per unit. I don't want to think about the time and material to fill everything with bins. I think I'll pivot to more specialized containers without over-constraining them to fit not only one model of tool. For example a basic shape for my metal and wood files should suffice, like a cylindrical cutout.

  6. @scribus Congrats and BIG OOF. I know exactly what you're getting through. One good thing happens and 10 bad follow on its heels. Termites on the other hand seem to be like a biblical plague in comparison.

  8. Not fearing over a dead battery that dies within of two hours is a huge relief. A whole day idling and it has more than half of charge. It lost only 20%. Meanwhile my Blackberry is permanently plugged in to the charger and will be only used as an alarm clock and email station.

  9. @zeldatra At this point they are rather remaking 1 and 2 again but with the RPG mechanics from 7 and 8 than overhauling 3. Realistically I see them showing some new footage from Stranger Than Heaven. Maybe they'll announce a new Gaiden game. A Gaiden game with Saejima as protagonist would be the most probable one if any. Personally I would like one with Akiyama and Hana-Chan.

  11. I got two IKEA metal drawer unit on rolls for just 30€. They also contained a drawer organizer inlay, a network patch cable, a 8GB USB drive, a birthday greeting card, a newspaper page printout, and a few cent coins. I haven't looked what's on the drive yet because I need to find my EEEPC to use it as a sacrifice if it may be malicious.

  12. Updating my new Android phone has serious Windows Update vibes. Right after installing a system update there is a next one to install.

  14. @scribus Now I'm jinxed and will let it fall down and dent it next time I take it into my hands. That's what happened with my Blackberry KeyOne on day 2 of ownership. It has a small dent at the top edge and its black anodized coating got off at the spot of impact.

  15. Finally my new smartphone arrived, the Xperia 10 VI, for 250€. 100€ less than I tried to order in May. Now I'm transferring all my data. Only hassle is that I can't use my old SD card because it wants to format it. Have a spare one and it is fine.

  17. Social media is a mistake. The bombardment of likes, reposts, (shallow) comments is highly distracting. https://bsky.app/profile/adiwan.bsky.social/post/3lxykitwn5224 Never thought a dumb picture of tomatoes would have that kind of reaction. I like screaming into the void and don't want the void to scream back.

  18. I'm becoming a tomato influencer!!! /s For some reason my picture with my latest tomato harvest "blew up" with staggering 80 likes. Not gonna lie. It is triggering the same bad dopamine hits when I was a tumblr pony ask blog artist.

  19. Finally the Sony Xperia 10 VI is back in stock and it got way cheaper. Barely went through payment and shortly after it was sold out. Soon the time will be over with battery anxiety. My Blackberry KeyOne is down to 4 hours idle and then it'll be at 40% but a major spike in power drain will shut it down, like a simple phone call.

  21. @ceruleanspark Ah... Makes sense. At a project I was working on they had similar issues. They logged EVERYTHING and had space issues in production. So much so that they had to make rotating logs but soon after so much was logged that the rotating logs would only save about 2-3 hours and yet more and more logging was added. My code had also very verbose logging that could be disabled but the client wanted even that output all the time. Coincidentally their DB views got so big that certain joints in some applications suddenly stopped working because it had too many columns. It was quite the ordeal to debug that.

  23. I've repaired my broken Samson SR-850 headphones with an audiojack, as the original cable had its core broken after 4 years of constant use. Had to model myself a holder for the audio jack but now I can worry less about breaking a cable and can switch to shorter or longer cables whenever I like. https://i.imgur.com/67ka1Sk.jpeg

  25. Oof... A whole city district having a yard sale... More like every other street has one vendor. Still it was quite the walk. I walked about 8km in 2.5 hours and visited about 100 vendors. All I got are sore legs and some gardening tools as well as something to prop up plants for 10€. Not bad. My mother was buying baby clothes for a cousin expecting her baby in a few months. I'm glad I don't father a child seeing my mother going into a baby frenzy and buying "cute" baby things.

  27. Here is a picture of the mid-stage of the blob removal https://i.imgur.com/5J8V3kl.jpeg I had to use a saw to get rid of the most of the molten plastic. Also I'm aware of the fact that the plastic color is eerily close the the 80's horror film blob.

  30. @scribus Ah. That's a very good point. This is a good use-case for all the Roma fruits to be used up. Gonna buy beef patties and some buns tomorrow. As for Tigerella I have the UK sort that has small, cherry-sized, fruits https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tigerella (about 2 - 2.5 fingers wide).
