  1. I just had the new She-Ra explained to me by a die-hard fan of the old series

Essentially she thinks it is like taking a beloved franchise that she feels she has supported thoughout the years, by buying merch and all. Someone got their hands on that IP because essentially you can not 'make' a new IP work in the modern oversaturated world. Then added so many new borderline cringe modern 'themes' to it till it pretty much only resembled the beloved She-Ra only in name. I mean For Fox's Sake (I choose to believe she actually said 'For Fox's Sake') they put a first draft D&D character into the show for crying out loud.

Imagine your grandmother learned you how to make granny's apple pie, and then 20 years later she asks you to make her some apple pie just like how she used to like it. Only to have a conversation not even 5 seconds after gramma tasting it about "WHAT DO YOU MEAN YOU TOOK OUT THE ASBESTOS ?!?"

Strange woman, but made some sense.

I only know 1 person who likes new She-Ra.

  3. @scribus But it is a picture of a person ? No way they could use it for a commercial without being sued.

  4. @scribus I honestly thought that was going to be about "Warren's Meem Dreem Teem"

  5. This is a GREAT watch http://rainbowdash.net/url/875299 . The level of awareness is so warped in all 6 of these individuals that I could build a case study out of it for psych class.

But I would probably upset a LOT of people regarding either religion, flat eartherism, or globe eartherism.

By the end, the person that could be referred to as Karen even makes the closing arguments that "We do not derrive our beliefs from finding a statement and then only using supporting evidence. You claiming that I derrive my beliefs from religion is a fallacy !" and "Hiding behind 'rocket science' is similar to religion, if you look at the catholic church back in the days 'Only WE can interpet the Bible, you have to listen to what we say' so in a lot of ways we're getting that same from science that says that only they can interpet what those numbers are and you just need to trust them"

Me personally ? I hold no stake in any of them being right. It was good to laugh at.

  6. @scribus I do not think you wanna know what a "Dee Double You Ehh Ehh Ehh Ehh" is in my country.

Friday, 08-Nov-19 18:53:48 UTC from web in context
  7. In what world does saying "Dee Double You Aye" equate in any way faster than just saying "Driving While Intoxicated". And while I can see arguments being made for "Well, that is a difficult word to prenounce", the same happens with "Dee You Aye" 's

Yes, in text form DWI and DUI are faster. I'll give you that.

  8. @adiwan I would be willing to pay for a LOT of conveniences. But things like "Oh yeah, you are not going to get that specific thing you wanted" ( like with the whole F.R.I.E.N.D.S. Netflix thing, since they were on, and then off, and then on again, and made a couple shows unavailible since they were bad in current era ) or "we are going to split the market in order to give more choice to you, the consumer. Oh do not worry about paying more, that is the price of progress baby" / "We are going to break the monopoly by screaming at it really hard with 'our' monopoly" ( Such as with Steam vs Epic or Netflix vs HBO-Go vs Peacock vs Amazon Prime vs HBO Now vs CBS All Access vs YourMomTV )

Oh hey guess what, I found my old Jolly Roger Tricorne with matching outfit.

    I look, fancy :D

  10. @mrmattimation Normally I would say something like 'Super' if I was handling a lot of cash. But the combination of Super and PAC probably is not going to end in a smile for most people. Unless if it was a pun, those are are cruel in their own right.

Can someone please put me in cryosleep untill it is legal to projectile-transport people into space ? Like a cannon or a trebuchet or something.

  13. "Riyonn Farsad reveals scenes of the show ( The Apprentice ) were 'edited out' to make him look more stupid."

I'm sorry, no. You did not even know when WW2 was.

And before anyone goes 'Oh but everyone knows when WW2 was, because it was terrible'. I just saw a clip of Freddie Bentley ( reality TV star ) saying on Good Morning Brittain that he would rather have learned in school about more pressing issues that he could have used IRL because he found himself unready for reality once leaving school.

Here is the kicker, he thinks that school should trim back on what school teaches about WW2 and more about Brexit.

Tell you what mate, if Brexit becomes a long and bloody battle and takes untill at least 2050 before they finally back out, then I agree. But since that is not the case, I think people would benefit a LOT more learning what actual Nazi's were !

This # made my blood boil. How people can be this dumb is beyond science, it is witchcraft.

  14. @adiwan This is true, but I reckon that people here know the difference.

Also, Europe is never really called out for its communism if that is true, that is somewhat funny to me.

  15. @mrmattimation ... And... Do you want Virginia to be communist ? raises eyebrow

  16. @scribus So a 'All Summer Long' to 'Sweet Home Alabama' or more of a 'Ice Ice Baby' to 'Under Pressure' kinda thing ?

  17. @adiwan It's ohkay, I forgive you. You probably did not kno....

Wait, spread-cheese ? Never trust a cheese that can be convinced to do your bidding with a breadknife.

  19. @scribus Well that could be either of two Jim's I know really, But I think it was not Carrey in the cartoon of the 90's

{googles} It was Rob Paulsen. And he has Animaniacs TBA for 2020. Hmm. Either awesome or cringe time for cartoon fans.

  20. @scribus How about Earth Worm Jim ?

Wednesday, 06-Nov-19 11:37:47 UTC from web in context
  21. @mrmattimation Ohkay, I think I found the sore spot right then and there.

    > "best path to victory is maintaining states already won, not winning new ones,"

That is way too much true to the whole idea of political ideologies eating themselves once they get more and more totalitarian. That is "Back your base !" "Back Your Base !" "BACK YOUR OWN FRIGGIN BASE !" untill you have alienated everyone that was not already part of the in-group by the first time those words were chanted.

Back to modern day America. No group is going to win without the support of the people who feel no strong affiliation and rather let the policies ( or gut ) speak to them. Hell, the Rust Belt voted surprisingly Trump after 2 election cycles of "Hope".

Not to say I would not be surprised that in the campaign office they jokingly talk about 'It is not about winning, it is about sending a message' while giving it their best Michael Caine impression.

But it honestly sometimes is, just about sending a message.

  23. @scribus I blame you that I tumbled down a rabit hole and am now watching things like http://rainbowdash.net/url/875296 and contemplating the ethicacy of still calling such a thing ROB still.

After all, if I removed your brain and replaced it with sufficiently adequate technology ( the likes we probably have in some 40 years if things go ahead as scheduled ), would you still be... Well, you know... a video game enthusiast ?

Tuesday, 05-Nov-19 22:34:42 UTC from web in context
  24. @mrmattimation Well, he is a politician. Try to name me a POTUS from the last 50 years and I can probably give you a sham or two.

But we both know what is currently going on in Virginia. No I do not think Trump should have said anything about minority members of Congress, in fact someone should have slapped him, camera's rolling or no. But last time I checked the black caucus of Virginia certainly is spreading a whole lot of influence to making sure to keep the whole area stays as anti-Trump as possible.

Do I think that is a bad thing ? Nah, Time will tell. Can Trump win a second time without Virginia ? Time will tell, after all, it worked for Calvin Coolidge, Warren G. Harding, William Howard Taft, and Theodore Roosevelt before. But hey still, 19/26 winrate is not bad. Lets hope this is a good horserace.

I can not wait to see who they will back this election cycle, all I know it is going to be some [Name] with a D at the end.

  27. @adiwan I heard Clownfish TV do nothing but rip on that show while using them as a podcast substitution while at work. So I guess you are the first person I know who actually likes New She-Ra.

I'm still not sure if I should pick it up seen my HUMONGOUS backlog of things I have yet to watch.

Tuesday, 05-Nov-19 18:27:12 UTC from web in context
  28. @mrmattimation Full aware of the dangers of asking this question, I have to ask "What does that mean to you ?"

Some sort of "Virginia pride" ?

Tuesday, 05-Nov-19 18:24:35 UTC from web in context
  29. @scribus Hmm, yes it does, kinda. But I'm afraid I have had way too much experience with ( rabid ) undertale fans where if you even make an 8 bit hairstyle they are going to claim it looks like Frothing mouth for comical effect Undehtaal

  30. @scribus That is very much my prefered style of playing.

The folks that I game with on the big screen when the boss is not looking ( and, you know, after work ) recently told me that they are sort of glad that the guy with the big screaming mouth is gone. Equating him to Chef Ramsay whenever we were playing Overcooked.
