  1. "An unauthorized copy of proprietary software is bad, but less bad than an authorized copy" ~ Richard Stallman

  2. @ceruleanspark Dammit, Humble Bundle guys, I asked you to mail me when the new bundle got released. Why don't I have an e-mail yet?

  3. @kingsombra Hi you!

  4. "I feel like Richard Stallman trying to explain Free software to a Russian interviewer" is going to be my new saying for "I can't seem to manage to make this person understand something which isn't all that hard to understand".

  5. I don't care what people keep telling me. I don't how how "supposedly great" # is. I've been giving it new chances over and over and over for the last two years, and I've ALWAYS had issues with it. EVERY. SINGLE. TIME. As always, I'm back to # At least the Advanced Linux Sound Architecture WORKS.

  6. @ceruleanspark There is a big problem with that, though: The databases will be limited and therefore it won't be able to keep everything up-to-date. Assuming you're running a decent Linux distribution, the repositories would be extremely big. I guess Windows 8 will fix this, though, assuming they actually get a big catalogue.

  9. @minti Oh, I love package mangers! They're SO convenient!

  10. @pony I honestly don't care all that much, I wouldn't use the tool myself anyway, but too bad to hear that =/

Wednesday, 19-Dec-12 16:49:06 UTC from web in context
  11. @minti I know so many great Linux utilities that aren't native to Windows, but I don't know the names of them, so that doesn't really help a lot =/

  12. @zeldatra Okay, let's ask @pony because I really interpreted that as "Are there any things on Windows someone using Linux wouldn't be able to run and for which would be no equivalents?". So, @pony, what is it?

Wednesday, 19-Dec-12 16:43:22 UTC from web in context
  13. @minti I already said Photoshop :x

Wednesday, 19-Dec-12 16:41:51 UTC from web in context
  14. @zeldatra Click "in context" and read the discussion. @pony asked specifically for software native to Windows which you cannot run on Linux and which has no equivalents there.

  15. @zeldatra Please read the discussion

  16. @pony On Windows or Mac, that's possible: http://bluestacks.com/ (I think that's free as in beer, but not sure). On Linux, I would expect it to be possible (because we have parts of Android right in our kernel) but I haven't found a way yet.

Wednesday, 19-Dec-12 16:31:01 UTC from web in context
  17. @pony I would guess stuff like Photoshop?

  18. @pony Can happen, sorry I was so quick :P

  19. @pony WINE isn't native (well, WINE itself is, but it doesn't turn the executables into native executables).

Wednesday, 19-Dec-12 16:22:39 UTC from web in context
  20. @zeldatra Someone tell me if they find a Windows version which runs Linux executables natively.

Wednesday, 19-Dec-12 16:21:36 UTC from web in context
  21. @pony Same. It's always been a deal-breaker for me. I want my windows maximized and not claim any of my desktop keys (I hate it if games claim Alt-Tab, for example, grrrr).

Wednesday, 19-Dec-12 16:21:14 UTC from web in context
  22. @pony You need to run the game, which is made for another Operating System (and because you don't have the source code but only a compiler, you'll need to use JIT (Just-In-Time) something like WINE does) on top of a complete operating system. You probably knew this, but I felt like explaining that, just in case you would be wondering :P

  23. @pony I still draw worse than this...

Wednesday, 19-Dec-12 16:13:52 UTC from web in context
  24. @omni Well, the original was surely better. Amongst the things I miss are: The ability to not use full-screen mode. This makes the game unplayable for me, as I can't stay up-to-date with other things then.

  25. I just found a # clone of SkyRoads, a game I used to love as a kid, this is going to be so much fun! http://www.zneaker.com/joomla/index.php?view=article&catid=40%3Aprojects&id=48%3Aorbit-hopper&option=com_content&Itemid=27 Thank you so much, LibreGameWiki! !fossgaming

  27. It seems my phone battery has arrived, yay!

  28. @pony Consoles are pretty much just pre-installed PCs with a specialized OS. There is one clear advantage to consoles, though: If you buy a game for a certain console, you don't have to check your specs, you can assume it will just work fine.

  29. @mushi Because games don't play well without textures, models and maps

  30. @ceruleanspark Ah, I see. Well, I will need to think my opinion on this through later, as I was obviously misinformed. I will keep flashing my devices, though, I'm never happy with the stock ROMs =/
