  1. @ceruleanspark So what you're saying is, even if someone seems ignorant and or stupid at something, they could be very proficient at something else? Is that what you're saying?

  2. @gladosenchilada And you hardly see anyone fight with honour anymore, sad face

Sunday, 04-Nov-12 20:46:50 UTC from web in context Repeat of mrdragon
  3. @ceruleanspark Oh I see what you mean.

Sunday, 04-Nov-12 20:45:16 UTC from web in context
  4. @ceruleanspark True, true. In the Linux community we often have a tendency to look down on Ubuntu users, for example. It could surely be better, yeah :x

  5. @gladosenchilada If one of your points is to stop violence hitting people is the most stupid thing you can do. Richard Stallman may be a calm guy, but he's surely not a stupid person. If anything, I often find his statements to be quite smart.

  6. @redenchilada okay you got me there.

  7. @omni To be honest, both groups are pretty horrible to themselves internally too. I've been called stupid for asking for help on just as many OSS mailing lists and message boards as I have on closed ones.

  8. @ceruleanspark I say that because it is so hard for MOST people I know to do simple things like get a picture off your phone. That is why. and I tend to go overboard when I rant about stuff I find annoying.

Sunday, 04-Nov-12 20:40:23 UTC from web in context
  9. @ceruleanspark I only said most windows users.

Sunday, 04-Nov-12 20:37:32 UTC from web in context
  10. @ceruleanspark >Implying I said that

Sunday, 04-Nov-12 20:37:18 UTC from web in context
  11. @redenchilada At the same time, the closed-source community treats the open-source community equally terrible. We all just need to gather around with a cup of tea and talk this out. Even Richard Stallman doesn't think Steam is pure evil, so there must be a way we can come to a good conclusion.

  12. @redenchilada Well a lot of the open source community is smart and not mind-numbingly dumb like the average user. :P #

  13. @gladosenchilada This is why I despise DRM and complete restrictions of that nature.

  14. @rainbowhurricane I still remember SecuROM. Oh, that was always fun! **shoots self**

  15. @redenchilada It's built in into your games. I have no internet at home ATM, and as such I can't touch any Steam games. For me that's more than enough to classify it as crap. Not going to explain my views on this again, I did it enough times already.

Sunday, 04-Nov-12 20:31:05 UTC from web in context Repeat of nerthos
  16. Don't even get me started on DRM. I could rant all day about that.

Sunday, 04-Nov-12 20:33:39 UTC from web in context
  17. @widget Yeah I know, I just have really really low tolerance for stupid people who don't know the simple functions of a computer work. It really frustrates me.

Sunday, 04-Nov-12 20:33:09 UTC from web in context
  18. @rainbowhurricane It's only because Windows is what comes on most store-bought computers. If Linux were dominant, there would be stupid Linux users.

Sunday, 04-Nov-12 20:31:01 UTC from web in context Repeat of redenchilada
  19. @gladosenchilada I find Microsoft's platform to be much more restrictive. I've ran into situations where, even as admin, I can't remove files or am not allowed to change settings. Like, what is that nonsense? I am the administrator! At least Linux allows me to remove all important system files if I want to.

Sunday, 04-Nov-12 20:29:57 UTC from web in context Repeat of omni
  20. @redenchilada The whole discussion is basically "We don't use windows because we're /so smart/" so what were you expecting really?

Sunday, 04-Nov-12 20:30:35 UTC from web in context Repeat of ceruleansparkold
  21. @rainbowhurricane Because they don't know/care that other options exist.

  22. @redenchilada Most windows users are a little dumb and don't know how a computer is supposed to work. that's why I said that. I have very low tolerance for stupid people. Sorry if It was against the rules, just a little mini rant.

Sunday, 04-Nov-12 20:29:53 UTC from web in context
  23. @unhipdruid For me is not about how much it hurts them, as much as it is "That's overpriced/I won't use your restrictive platform and DRMs"

  24. @omni Okay. :D

  25. Why would anyone want to use Internet Explorer? Seriously, it's like the bane of humanity and good web design. #

Sunday, 04-Nov-12 20:27:37 UTC from web in context
  26. @omni No. I don't. In big enterprises, they often buy systems and throw away the DVDs.

Sunday, 04-Nov-12 20:25:10 UTC from web in context Repeat of nerthos
  27. @unhipdruid The last Windows-to-Linux switcher I heard complain was crying about how much Linux sucks because he couldn't install Internet Explorer by double clicking the iexplore.exe file he downloaded using Firefox. I haven't had the urge to slap someone that badly in a long time.
