Hey, if you have HBO Max or access to a cable subscription: I have some friends who worked on Smiling Friends, [adult swim]’s new animated horror comedy. The sixth episode features a Bakshi-inspired character who was animated by some friends of mine, but the whole show in general is very funny. The show hits HBO Max on Feb 9th, and if you have cable, you can watch the entire series on adultswin.com right now. If you could give it a watch, that’d be real cool, because we really wanna see a second season get greenlit and online viewership is pretty much how they decide what gets renewed these days.

The idea, really, is to make people really uncomfortable just because it is a Halloween show, and I feel like cutting stuff from it for one platform undercuts that idea, but YouTube’s recommended feed avoids suggesting videos that are marked as unsuitable for advertisers, so it’s kind of unavoidable if you want people to actually watch.

Started writing this year’s Halloween special today and I can already foresee some problems with the content - it’s gorier and darker than anything I’ve ever done, with one on-screen depiction of posession-induced self-annihilation - but I suppose we’ll cross that bridge when I come to it. Might have to put two different cuts together with altered animation in some scenes, not sure yet.

It is hard to identify someone as chronically lonely as I am, but even I know when to take the hint and back off of someone who’s clearly not into me. I’ve had to explain this concept to more than one cashier. It’s exhausting.

For reference - he once famously rode his bike to work. That took 13 hours.

Senator Kaine lives in Richmond and takes I-95 to work. Took him 26 hours to get to the Capitol building. Richmond to DC is ordinarily a 3 hour drive, it’s a drive I make constantly. 26 hours.

Final Fantasy VII Remake Intergrade Windows Edition is making me think about how much better Kingdom Hearts could be. The character switching mechanic in particular would make battles feel a lot less like you’re just mashing A for twenty minutes, and it’d be especially fitting post-III where there are now two trios of Keyblade wielders (plus Kairi)
