The other day during Steam’s little demo showcase I downloaded a few demos. Today I tried out “Promise Mascot Agency”, a cute little open world mascot management sim/casual collectathon where the bulk of the gameplay is driving around in a Kei truck and talking to sentient mascots. Also the main character, completely by coincidence, is an ex-yakuza voiced by Takaya Kuroda (Kazuma Kiryu).

Pirate Yakuza beat. Despite how silly it is it may actually be up where with Yakuza 7 and Yakuza 0 as one of my favorite stories in the franchise.

A guy who participated in January 6th is running for governor and while it would be really papayaing funny if he got nominated the state GOP unfortunately doesn’t hold open primaries anymore because they don’t trust the voters to pick someone electable. They’re right not to trust them, but still.

Unlocked Kaito as a pirate crew member and the game describes him as coming from “a certain detective agency”. They won’t even say Yagami’s NAME anymore

having JUST beat Persona 5 Royal the day before Pirate Yakuza came out and then going into Pirate Yakuza and hearing a bunch of those voice actors again is sort of funny. Sojiro photographs sickos for the government.

I’m working with a well-known brand sponsor for upcoming Mattimation cartoons and they want to know if I will happen to be in Dubai next week for a face to face. I, uh, will not, and unless I find myself with unfathomable wealth in the next five years, you can probably count on me not ever “happening” to be in Dubai.

Tomb Raider: The Angel of Darkness remastered gets a thumbs up from me! It's not much of a remaster, it's up to par with the other remasters Aspyr did... which the original AOD pretty much already was to begin with, so aside from Lara, Kurtis, and some of the other important NPCs having new models and the environments receiving texture upgrades, it's not much to write home about visually. The various quality of life fixes, bug fixes, the new control scheme, the addition of a store to purchase ammo and weapon upgrades from early on, etc. all make it worth playing IMO, although it is still a flawed experience - you can only fix the stuff that's broken, not the stuff that's missing.

Pirate Yakuza is pretty fun but without modding the enemy's health values it's difficult to get a real feel for the combat because Majima is already half upgraded when you start the demo and kills guys in like a single combo. Increasing it three times makes it a lot more enjoyable.
