the actual numbers from Scott Vanzo, animation director on Futurama: “an hour a frame” for the title sequence, which of course was 24fps, so a day for just a second of animation on the admittedly very complex (over 80 levels compositors together) intro.

sometimes I think about how the CGI on Futurama was very revolutionary and expensive for the time and it took like three days to render a shot on a render farm with a hundred processors but now I can do the same thing and achieve the same effect in near-real-time on my home PC

With that being said: exactly one North Korean watched multiple videos on my channel, according to my analytics, and there’s only one North Korean with access to actual internet I’m pretty sure. I hope I have entertained you to your liking, Supreme Leader Kim!

and the reason I forget that is because a Chinese guy pirated my videos and uploaded it to a Chinese video sharing site that’s CCP approved because China doesn’t have YouTube

Sometimes I forget that YouTube exists in more than just the western world so unlike with The Simpsons where they can say whatever they want about Russians and get away with it because very few Russians will see the untranslated joke, if I make fun of Russians I’ll get a bunch of angry comments from Russians.

Try not to think about the fact that five of the nine Supreme Court Justices who ruled on a case relating to Tetris remained on the court into the Trump Administration.

And one of those voices is a Phil Hartman impersonation that I purposely limited to just one character because of how prominent he is.

Being a one-man ensemble means you have to keep a list of characters who can never meet each other because you can only do like four voices.

"wealthy YouTuber" almost feels dirty to say, but what else can you call a guy who pays a studio-sized crew working out of an actual office building in Southern California that you rented out to make Let's Plays

These are things you only really appreciate by playing the series twice.

No, but seriously, playing through the entire series again after having (once again) beaten Metal Gear Solid V is making me appreciate the series’ side characters a lot more. It’s not ACTUALLY a series about Big Boss and his sons. It’s a series about Big Boss’s legacy and the people who were affected by it. In Metal Gear Solid, Snake works with Hal “Otacon” Emmerich. Thirty years earlier, in Metal Gear Solid: Peace Walker, Naked Snake works with his father, Huey, and they’re largely identical in most ways, so identical that one has to wonder for a minute if Snake was the only subject in the Patriots’ cloning program. But if you played MGS2, you already know they /aren’t/ the same because Huey goes nuts and drowns himself and tries to drown his stepdaughter in a vengeful murder-suicide after he catches his second wife molesting Hal. “Revenge” is explored in MGS5, where we learn that Hal & Huey are pretty much only identical in appearance.

You know what doomed Solid Snake’s sex life? The writers’ inability to commit. Meryl dies in one of the endings of Metal Gear Solid, which is why she doesn’t appear in MGS2 and why Snake is a miserable loner still.

Come Metal Gear Solid 4, we learn that Meryl does, in fact, still exist, and she and Snake are apparently on very bad terms, so bad that at the end of the game she decides to marry the guy with a bad gut who’s been batcaveting himself for three games across two generations, while Snake, who has just months to live because of cloning-related accelerated aging, decides to become Otacon’s heterosexual life partner and raise an adopted daughter with him, who then goes on to work with a Cyborg Ninja who’s trying to prevent Donald Trump from being elected President.

Metal Gear is so batcaveing funny, the first game ends with Snake and Meryl driving off into the sunset, with Snake using his real name for the first time since joining the army, vowing to live every day like it’s his last. Naturally, the second game opens with Snake doing soldier kiwi again, having been running an anti-Metal Gear terrorist organization for the last two years, Meryl is nowhere to be found and he’s objectively unhappy, and then they have you play as a new character anyway for most of the game.

Looking into getting a security job at the local old folks’ home. Twelve hour days but only 3/4 days a week, and I’d mostly just be filling out paperwork.
