Never realized how young the last stretch of Presidents has been. Clinton was 46, Bush was 54, Obama was 47. To put that into some context, every person who could potentially be president next year, elected or otherwise, is at least 55, and every president between Clinton and Kennedy ranged from the mid-50s to late-60s.

I went and looked into it and the candidate who won the highest percentage of the white vote since 1992 was actually Mitt Romney in 2012, with 59%. Trump and Bush 43 (2004) are tied at 58%. McCain and Bush (2000) won 55%. Dole got 48% in 1996. Bush 41 got 40% in 1992 while Clinton got 39%, so there's room to argue that Clinton probably would have won the white vote in 1992 (and been the only Democrat to do so) if Ross Perot wasn't on the ballot (he won 20%). In terms of Democrats, Obama has the best performance among white voters, which he achieved in 2008. That was... 43%.

@scribus eh, that's not exactly uncommon for a Republican, if anything it's a little low. McCain had 55% of whites in 2008, and he lost the election by a bigger margin than any candidate of the 21st century. No Democrat has carried the white vote since at least 1964, and maybe even before that, the data only goes back to 1976.
