@zeldatra From Hero to Zero

@zeldatra You don't have to go that far. A friend of mine uses Text To Speech (AI assisted or not) for his game jam games. It is often a blessing not to hear the programmer doing the voices. I played too many game jam games where a non-native and heavily accented English speaker tries to speak into a crappy gaming-microphone in the most monotone and least engaging way. I genuinely think that the TTS from google at http://translate.google.com delivers better an emotion than these crappy attempts.

@scribus Haha. Are you using an external display for a video camera? It is surely a great help keeping oneself in the shot when no cameraman is available.

I need a second monitor as it's quite hard to read on a tiny laptop monitor from a distance. One monitor is for the remote desktop and the other is for browsing and other stuff.

@scribus You can envy those people who "borrowed" a monitor, forgot to put the note into the inventory system, and then left the company (quite some time after) without bringing the hardware back. *sigh*
-
I got a monitor and docking station from work. Now I can live the multi-monitor life at home!

The house I could potentially afford was already taken when I put down a house viewing request. Of course.

I fear that buying a house might be a bad decision as it will put a lot of debt on me and lock me to it for a long while. But on the other hand I don't want to be in an apartment anymore and less and less arguments remain to convince me otherwise.

I'm on my second attempt thinking about buying a house, with a stronger intent to actually pull through. The new neighbors are also not very quiet. Just now they had some kind of FPS shooter game at maximum volume. Also they smash the doors with a lot of force in the middle of the night.

Cycling against strong winds is not very fun. I was shopping and on my way back a sudden gust almost stopped me and I barely pulled through.

@scribus Oh yeah. The USA is not very bike friendly from all the videos I've seen. I'd be terrified to cycle there and would do only that on the sidewalks if at all. To protect my bike from the elements and thieves I always put it back into the cellar. It takes a few minutes to put it in and out but at least it'll last a bit longer. A neighbor has a steel frame bike and it has developed an even rust coating.
-
I'm at a point that if the destination is within 4km I rather use the bike. Well... Only if it's not pouring rain. I bought a rain poncho and have it always in my backpack but it's already uncomfortable enough when the moisture accumulates under my jacket. I don't need more from the outside.

I could literally vomit whenever I discover one of those pictures on ebay and such. The insidious auto-crop for the thumbnails makes every click on those more hurting. Also BTW I hate "zoom" functions that scale the picture down to the web page size. On my laptop more often than not the image doesn't get bigger as the "zoom" overlay adds so much margin around the picture that it doesn't make any appreciable effect.

I could stab everyone who uploads item pictures that are screenshots off their phone.

@tetrahedron As far as I know there are no active users here at the moment who come from Canada, except for you.

We Baby Bears is a bit disappointing and I cannot point out why. I only watched two episodes so far. During that time I haven't felt the special laid-back appeal of We Bare Bears (even the baby bears episodes). We Baby Bears are using a very imaginative plot device having the bears using a box transporting the bears to fantasy worlds. Also the animation style seems to give some off vibes as well as the fact that Ice Bear speaks. The show is not bad but it doesn't connect with me as well as the old show did.

I've plowed through, what feels like, 9000 lines of code and did some reformatting and minor improvements. So like there were some parts where a list of data was filtered and then the first element was selected but it could be improved using the same filter function and abort it at the first element. There were also plenty of code paths that could have been potentially crash-worthy where a uninitialized object could slip through and cause an exception and crash. The next step is to analyze the whole code base and make some abstractions and refactor the code for better readability. It's truly a mess, as if it were written by a novice or someone who gives a cherry.

Hm... Microsoft bought Activision for almost $69 billion dollars. I hope that the working conditions for the programmers improve a lot.

"The House" on Netflix was an interesting watch. Watch it only if you are in the mood for something depressing. It's an anthology containing 3 stories around a house but these stories aren't connected beyond the appearance of that house. Plot-wise it's a little shallow whereas it banks on mood and emotions and being allegorical in nature. The stopmotion animation and miniature work was nonetheless very good. I'd rate it a 6/10 with a stronger emphasis on the looks than on the rest. Depending on how you can connect with the stories it might be more a 7.5/10.

I think I have a relatively clean English pronunciation. I hate when the speech recognition thinks I meant "13 minutes" instead of said "30 minutes". Better this way than the other way around but still it's a bother.

@scribus As Direct-To-TV movies the recent ones aren't so bad LOL
-
The Eternals movie was a dud. The actors were all good but the plot and direction were my main issues. Good that I didn't waste my money going to the cinema for that.
-
I have been reminded that Beyond Good & Evil 2 still hasn't got finished. It'll going to be my Duke Nukem Forever.

Third time in a row that Amazon just cancelled a pre-order for a book. I pre-ordered some books half a year ago and right on the day the book should have been delivered it's cancelled out of nowhere with the claim that Amazon cannot get the books. I had to order these from the comic shop for about a 5€ higher price. I like to support my comic shops and I order tons of comics there but man I want also save some money fueling my comic addiction.

@scribus I have not. I've tried some variants like OJ with vodka. At this point I just give up.
-
I tasted wine and it gave me the impression of vinegar.
I tasted champagne and it gave me the impression of very stingy vinegar.
I tasted beer and it gave me the impression of half-digested and thrown-up bread.
I tasted mead and it gave me the impression of acetone.
I tasted vodka and it gave me the sensation of a burning esophagus.
I think alcohol will never be a thing I can enjoy like any normal person. I am not sad about it. I'm just curious why it is as it is. -
@scribus It's only over after "The Sneeze Strikes Back" and "The Return of the Fauchi"
