  1. @adiwan *mechanisms

  2. @drinkingpony Compliant and flexible mechanics are cool and have a lot of benefits (like not totally destroying everything on a failure like a fall) but in this case of a load-bearing mechanism plastic is rubbish and cheaper to produce. The Switch Lite only exists to cut costs and increase the yield and profit.

  3. HELP. More books are on their way.

  4. @scribus To be honest: my regular comics contain more tiddies per page than Ranma ½, like Rat Queens or Saga

  5. @drinkingpony I like a manga. I turn slowly into a weeaboo.

  6. I'm a fool. I bought and read the first two volumes of the Ranma ½ manga because it was super cheap on sale and I was curious. I think I like it?

  7. @drinkingpony There are full machines available that have a 40W CO2 laser for about 300€. Maybe I think about getting a 500mW laser for 30€ but it doesn't have a power supply (12V) but I guess I have one somewhere in the attic.

  8. Why are lasers so expensive? I just want a 5500mW laser engraver without spending about 100€.

  9. @drinkingpony Life finds a way... also (automated) content filtering isn't flawless and manual review is costly. Honestly I haven't tried to discover new content on tumblr for a long time (longer than 2 years).

  10. @drinkingpony I'm glad none of that shows up on my dashboard, however discovering new content through tags or the "explore" page was a huge gamble as well. Twitter is not exempt of that too. I was browsing the VR tag and there were an uncomfortable amount of porn. I'm avoiding looking for new stuff in social media.

  11. @scribus When I used to check on my tumblr followers I got triggered. Lots and lots of MLP pornography shared openly.

  12. @drinkingpony The MLP episode of The Toys That Made Us on Netflix. There was only a brief segment about the male demographic of MLP fans. It was a bit cringy. Could have been definitely be worse. I flinched only twice during that.

  13. Thankfully the cringe was very short. I expected it to be worse.

  14. Minute 37 and the cringe begins.

  15. I'm barely prepared to cringe 45 minutes with the MLP episode of The Toys That Made Us. Any time "bronies" are mentioned it is hard for me not to cringe. Compulsively retracting all my muscles in disgust.

  17. A new episode of The Mandalorian and The Toys That Made Us has a new season out today. Much to binge.

  18. @drinkingpony As far as I know only the server and expensive workstation CPUs have multi-socket motherboards.

  20. I'm preparing my CNC router for a minor upgrade. I plan to attach a plastic canvas cover for the rails and the threaded rod such that the crap I cut doesn't land on them. It's not an expensive upgrade or a technical improvement but more an improvement for maintenance and convenience. I was cutting some clear plastic (polystyrene) and that stuff was magically drawn to the lubricated rails and threaded rod. I had to wipe everything off and lubricate again.

  21. By now it's a tradition to change the "Han shoots first" scene with each new release. I was once on the purist side of the fandom who wanted the unaltered scene but now I've grown out of that attitude and just watch the drama from the outside with no emotional investment.

  24. @adiwan Haferkleie is oat bran in English and Haferflocken is oat flakes in English as far as the online translators say.

Tuesday, 12-Nov-19 15:23:47 UTC from web in context
  25. @drinkingpony "Haferkleie" is the stuff that remains in the sieve after sieving the ground oat (flour) like the shells and the outer layers of the oat seeds. "Haferflocken" is the oats being shaped into flakes (like corn flakes).
