before now, I had to take the drive out of the old laptop, take the little proprietary adapter off the mini IDE pin interface (which involves some tricky screws), and mount the drive in Linux because Windows 7 screws up with my adapter for some reason. now I can just use a USB drive.

So I just installed third party drivers ffor Windows 98 that allow me to use USB drives with it. thank god. now I don't have to take the hard drive out in order to update a driver or give myself a wallpaper.

Is it bad that the fastest computer to start up in this house is a Pentium II laptop computer running Windows 98 with 128 MB of RAM? Its also the quietest and smallest. Hmmmm...

@northernnarwhal there's actually a very clear dividing line in my room, Everything within about 1.5 metres from the wall, or from the wall to the back of a couch, has stuff everywhere; the floor, the chairs, tables, boxes, whatever. but the moment you get to the other side of the couch, there's nothing. it's totally clean and open.

@northernnarwhal you should see my basement desk. literally piles and piles of electronic doodads, hard drives, CDs, floppy disks, and even an entire laptop that is not my main machine. This desk can be cleaned, but it's been proven to revert within two days.
