@drinkingpony I'm already extremely heated. Having a smacktalk might push me over the edge. Whatever. I have a month of vacation and don't want to think about work anymore.
-
@drinkingpony He was very smug like it was supposed to be that way.
-
Today I had a "F you" moment with a colleague and his developed domain specific modeling language. In my opinion it's a programming language in disguise and not a purely descriptive language. I showed him a flaw at one point but he argued vehemently that the flaw can be ignored. But in the editor the usage was allowed as well as in the documentation (that feature that caused the flaw was only mentioned in passing, and the documentation as a whole is poorly managed). After my vacation I will insist on switching to another project.

360p on a 4k display. I can count the compression blocks.

Just ordered a 5er set of stepper motors. Double the price of only one stepper motor but I will have enough to replace in any case something happens, even in a total meltdown. Also they are compatible with my 3d printers.

@drinkingpony It's a standard Nema 17 1.3 A, 12V stepper motor connected via a coupler to the Z axis lead screw. It's replaceable but still very annoying to the point of making me angry.
-
I'm super angry right now. I want to play with my CNC router and it stopped working. To be precise the Z axis motor stopped working. It squeals and doesn't move. I checked the cable by swapping it with the X axis and it has the same symptoms. I contacted the seller and I demand a replacement.

@scribus I've binged it all in one sitting. I totally forgot that the season was split in half and got annoyed when I reached the end.
-
New tablet arrived. I'm pretty satisfied with it for now. Slightly bigger as expected but over all a huge improvement to the Amazon tablet.

@scribus sleeping is better. Enjoying it well refreshed makes the difference. I once tried to watch a series very close to bedtime and missed half of it unconcious.

A new season of Bojack Horseman is out!

Well... That came unexpected. Adventure Time will get some TV specials
https://www.bleedingcool.com/2019/10/23/adventure-time-distant-lands-finn-jake-marceline-more-venturing-to-hbo-max/ Yay! But also why? I thought it was finished for good with some few graphic novels after the end.Wednesday, 23-Oct-19 19:35:38 UTC from web -
@drinkingpony I ordered a Samsung Tab A T510N 10.1'' tablet. It has only 2GB RAM but looks decent enough. There are plenty cheaper tablets from manufacturers I don't know but I'm not willing to risk it. Because I'm using my tablet every day when I wake up and go to sleep I don't want to have something janky. So I also don't want to flash a custom ROM that has not all the functionality (i.e. flashing a cheaper Amazon tablet). I could get the cheapest Amazon tablet again but it was not ideal when it comes to sideloading. It worked but they crashed regularly. Also 7'' was too small for me. I could live with that as long as it did but using Youtube (90% what I've used) the buttons were too small. Usually I don't mind buying used electronics but in the case of a full-screen and glued-in battery device I'm super hesitant. I don't want to look at scratches.
-
Argh! My tablet died. It doesn't turn on. It struggled in the last few days as it spontaneously turned itself off. It was an Amazon Fire HD 7 (7th gen). I'll probably buy a non-Amazon tablet because sideloading is a pain and I'd like to have more RAM on the device.

I recommend "Living With Yourself" with Paul Rudd on Netflix. The non-linear storytelling is refreshing.

I acquired a taste for ginger ale.

"Where do you even find your comics?"
I browse through what's new in the "Previews Preorders". Usually I buy my regulars but sometimes I click through other items.
Usually I read the synopsis/description but that time I blanked.
"Was it an addon so you would not have to pay shipping or something ?"
I always pay shipping. Every time it's about 5€ (DHL). I get the things I pre-ordered delivered every month or so to keep the shipping costs in check. -
@drinkingpony in this case I bought it from www.archonia.com They sell a lot of different things, from manga to US comics to board games (English, Dutch, German)
-
Whatever. I just regret my careless purchase that I'd not make otherwise.

@scribus Well... I'm not that interested in reading romance stories. And to be completely honest: It was super bland despite of the romantic contents. It was a happy-go-lucky thing with a sudden villain out of nowhere and their shortly developed love SOLVES EVERYTHING. I don't mind other gender identities and their romances but that's not my groove in entertainment. The two mentioned keywords had me warned beforehand not to grab that because the likelihood of encountering such a story would have been very high (and is now at a 100% certainty in this case).
-
I accidentally read an awfully bland LGBT comic and wasted money on that. I based my purchase on a very quick read over the description and cover. I missed the important keywords "romance" and "genderqueer".
-
@thelastgherkin Before that they gave Twilight the wings of imagination by giving her a ton of books to read, which itself remind of wings when a book lies open.

Since I have a physical little digital assistant speaker I doubt its usefulness. I can control my LG TV with it but I have to take an indirection over LG's service by adding "talk to LG" and the delay is massive 10 - 15 seconds until it is fully registered.

I wanted to cut acrylic glass with my CNC but it gummed up very quickly. As I've read it's recommended to actively cool the cutting head with air or water to prevent that. With my machine it's practically impossible to cut acrylic glass with a cutting bit of 1mm diameter. I have to switch to a bit with a diameter bigger than 2mm with 1 flute to create big chips in order to get as much heat away as possible, and I have to crank up the cutting speed high (about 600mm/min) and use a very shallow cutting depth per pass (below 1mm). It's already late and I don't want to disturb my neighbors.
Monday, 14-Oct-19 19:54:03 UTC from web -
I managed to snap my first bit on my CNC router. The stock slipped and the cut head rammed though additional thickness that the 1mm diameter bit couldn't handle.

@drinkingpony You want spoilers?
-
The last episode has aired yesterday. The fandom is over! Burn everything down! There is nothing to see!
-
@drinkingpony the manual for "man" is not the most helpful in your situation.
-
@drinkingpony the manual page "man rf". How the parameters work is widely dependent on the program you want to use. Some allow writing the parameters right after another (like "rm -rf") like "ls" and others are not (like mplayer or ffmpeg having a special order of parameters).
