  1. @pinhooves Then don't? I'm simply stating begging him to come back on a place he doesn't visit isn't a way of doing that.

  2. Can't the people looking for @starshine message him on Skype? He still goes there I believe. He obviously doesn't want to visit this place anymore and trying to highlight that HERE makes little sense.

  4. @flaxx I bought a PS2 controller to USB converter for my PC as well as TWO DDR Softpads for $10 on eBay once. The pads aren't great quality, but the converter lets me play Pop'n and IIDX on my PC. It requires knowing what you're doing, but it's easier than buying crap for a console and probably modding it to even be capable of playing other-regioned games. If you're willing to spend $30 on a video game you might like it's worth it, plus you can resell any controller that isn't a DDR mat pretty easily.

  5. @flaxx I recommend starting with DDR or something. It isn't quite as fun, but if you end up liking it it's a pretty good gateway into the other games and I personally think it's a bit easier than Guitar Hero, but some people disagree. Stepmania on the keyboard is kind of lame considering other Hand-Games have a lot more buttons (Pop'n has 9-key) while DDR has 4 (Pump it Up, another dancan' game has 5 buttons). Also if you have a PSP I highly recommend the DJ Max series (Hot Tunes is my favorite, Portable 3 is kind of lame). It's a clear-cut Beatmania rip-off, but the charts are tailored for the PSP and it's a fun way to get yourself accustomed to these sorts of games. It also has easy modo which is lacking in IIDX.

  6. @hellsedge I like ryu*, kors k, Scott Brown, DJ S3RL, some Basshunter stuff and similar things. I'm not good at following single artists.

  7. @ponybis @flaxx Forgot to add. Don't emulate ISOs or ROMs or whatever on system emulators. They may seem perfect for most kinds of games, but they usually fall flat for rhythm games because of the precise timing required to play them well.

  8. @flaxx There are emulators for every game out there, but keyboards and mice will only work well with Stepmania (DDR), osu! (Osu! Tattakke! Ouendan!/ Elite Beat Agent, also Taiko no Tatsujin), and you could play IIDX or Pop'n with a keyboard, but that would ruin the experience IMO.

  9. @hellsedge Happy Hardcore is one of my favorite genres of music, but I don't like thrash metal or speedcore if that's what you're referring to. Some rap is okay if that's what it is.

  12. @flaxx Well there are DDR, Pop'n Music, and the original Beatmania (5 keys), but the PS2 has a much larger selection of all of those (Plus Beatmania IIDX) so if you have one of those that's a good plan. But you'll probably want to obtain proper controllers first which usually run around $30 from the internet for normal CS ones and upper 100-300 for the big Arcade perfect ones or metal DDR pads, but you don't want those for first plays. Also local gameshops should have really cheap DDR pads. My trade in place has them for like $5.

  13. @hellsedge I'm unsure where you're getting that. If it's the little map it's dead wrong. I live in Indiana.

  19. @ponybis That's the medium mode on both of those songs, mind you! They get even harder! This is honestly the hardest game I've ever played. IWBTG and crap can be beaten if you dedicate three or four days to it. This game takes years to be great at.

  20. @scribus Yeah, it is I guess. IIDX is way harder than it looks which is what I'm primarily playing right now. Here's an example of the songs I'm passing: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bgOaHWBwo34 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vuFpJfDqQqA and I can only A these (goes up to AAA), but this game is HARDER THAN IT LOOKS. Like.. WAY HARDER. The scratching is the hardest part! 7 buttons, 4 in lower row (white in game), 3 in top row (blue in game), and a turntable (Red in game)! The turntable makes it so hard! And on top of that the timing is tighter than any other rhythm game and if you miss notes it's ridiculously unforgiving! I'm still better at this than Taiko, though, but mostly because I play it much more. !rgp

  21. @nvrrmbr If you want to emulate it on PC http://osu.ppy.sh/ has a Taiko mode and some Arcade original charts for it. You can even connect the Wiimote Tatakon via Bluetooth to play it! I actually haven't gotten around to testing that out, though. I did try it with a Wii emulator, but it caused too much input lag.

  23. @scribus Yes it is, it only got one US release on the PS2, but it kind of bombed so Namco doesn't really release it here, but it's very popular in Asian arcades. There are 3 out on the Nintendo DS and the Sony PSP respectively (all different to thankfully!) and I also have 3 on the Wii with a "Tatakon" controller which is a drum and some breadsti- I mean drumsticks. I have trouble reading the game because there is only one lane with different kinds of notes and no speed mods afaik. Controller looks like this: http://img55.imageshack.us/img55/4995/90587121lx0.jpg except it hooks up to a Wiimote. The game has a lot of Anime OPs, some classical music, some Namco originals, and occasionally licensed tracks like Mario and Monster Hunter tracks. Here's some Gameplay with Katamari. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=earHPtRGSGE

  24. @nvrrmbr Probably a good method, but I want to do a work-for-reward type thing, but that's difficult because I'm all WELL I AM AN ADDICT AND I NEED MY GAMING FIX NOW, LOL WHAT HAS GOTTEN ONLINE SINCE I WAS PLAYING GAMES OH TIME TO EAT TIME TO BROWSE INTERNET AGAIN TIME FOR GAMING FIX OH GOD WHY IS IT PAST MY BEDTIME.

  25. @nvrrmbr That's like me every day. I mean people could debate I do with school, a job, and an internship, but I still feel like I haven't done anything important. And sometimes on free weekends I literally do nothing except browse the internet/play games. I really need a better way of disciplining myself to do some coding.
