  1. Pro tip: the cashiers at grocery stores just sell the items, they don’t necessarily know how to use them. If you don’t even know what the hell you’re buying, you probably don’t need it.

  4. As we spoke on that, Virginia’s new Special Master (Republican) drawn map was released - my home district now expands south and takes on a bunch of Trump territory and the more urbanized eastern part is getting packed into an already heavily-Biden district. My district goes from Biden+20 with the old map to Biden+7.

  5. @adiwan That’s the America we’re about to be living in because one particular party spent most of the 2010s building the ultimate gerrymanders, only to have it completely fall apart when the suburbs turned on them. The new legislative maps for the decade are going to have very few competitive districts - you stay on your side, I’ll stay on mine, etc.

  6. Renewed calls for the western parts of my county to secede and form a new county because the county has become too blue. Problem is Trump only won the proposed area by 2%. So suppose Biden or Harris narrowly wins it next time. Where does it end? Do we keep splitting off new counties until eventually it’s just two houses along the state line?

  7. Love it when an employee tells me she had requested off for a certain day, AFTER I’m already done with the schedule. I tell her that the request isn’t in the book. She says yeah, she forgot to put it in the book but she still wrote it down on her personal calendar. How am I supposed to know what’s on your calendar?

  8. Making schedules for a grocery store front end is like having a puzzle with four missing pieces, so you ask for new pieces, and the manufacturer sends you four corner pieces that you already have.

  12. Artists also tend to end up paying way more in marketplace fees than is publicized, with some actually losing money, so I’m pretty sure the scam goes deeper than even critics realize.

  13. @scribus I wouldn’t. The whole thing’s a pyramid scheme. I’ve looked into it. Forgetting the environmental impact - my only personal qualm atm, though apparently that’ll change soon - something like 90% of NFT sales are back-and-forth transactions and the remaining 10% only profit if they’re the original seller. AFAIK very few profit from investment.

  16. @scribus more or less why getting to Maryland from here is such a hassle despite the town literally being on the state line. Should take five minutes. Ends up taking an hour and a half because there are only two bridges across the Potomac.

  18. Dunno what’s funnier about Tucker Carlson’s show on Chris Cuomo last night - the idea that Tucker Carlson understands what it’s like to feel any sense of obligation to your loved ones, or the fact that Chris Cuomo’s attempts to protect a rapist now make him sympathetic in Tucker Carlson’s eyes.

  19. Here’s what Flash’s biggest upside was: the interface was like Microsoft Paint. papaya was beautiful. You never had to look for anything because everything was as simple as possible. Now it’s needlessly complicated and slower too.

  20. @scribus This is exactly how I feel about the newest version of Flash, they redesigned the interface for the first time in like twenty years and it feels like it was designed by a guy who’s never used Flash before

  24. Thought I was getting pulled over today on my drive home from a friend’s house. Pulled to the side, he sped right past me. Wherever he was going, every single cop in the county was also going because I saw about twenty squad cars all heading in the same direction at various points during the drive.
