  1. @scribus Overall top 8.3%! I'm more proud of the "Fun" category, which is in the top 2%. The Overall category is wishiwashi and undefined.

  4. It's super exhausting introvert-wise to ask my neighbours to sign my data I gathered for almost 3 months about the noisy asocial neighbour below me. I waited for the "big bang" before I give it to my landlord. The prime witness is sadly on vacation (good for her but I need her significant signature on this issue). At least I have some other adjacent-living neighbours who are also inconvenienced but not at my level. It also helped to wait because the noisy asocial neighbour left their stinking garbage for almost 6 days in front of their apartment door.

  5. @ceruleanspark You call it busted. I say it's an effective anti-spam-account measure.

  6. There is a small wave of toilet paper hoarding here. Some of the shops nearby are completely sold out, and some with limited stock available.

  7. Finally found a vacuum teapot with acceptable performance. The one I used before was leaky and lost a lot of heat at the button. Also when pouring tea into my mug it always dripped like an old man.

  10. Great! From formerly 4 Corona-infected it has jumped up to almost 80 in my area. 0.032 % of the local population.

  12. I was cleaning out my attic. Oh boy there accumulated a lot of dust that seeped through the tiles and windows. It's a shared space with a cell for each party living in the house. One of them had a dead branch from a tree with even deader leaves that spread out its dead bits everywhere. I had to sneeze a lot.

  14. @scribus Then it's probably more of interest for you to use a stinking normal FDM 3D printer, printing a model with PLA plastic, putting it in a clay mold, burning the PLA out of the mold, and then pour your metal in the cavity. https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCkEYj8wtK3aEW8vSGhlB43g

  15. @scribus Well... You can use a CNC/3D printer with a welder that pushes automatically a metal rod to built up the metal like a traditional FDM 3D printer, only with metal. This is a valid technique for manufacturing, however the finish is horrible. It needs an additional step with a CNC router (ideally 5-axis) to remove the unevenness of the surface.

  16. Laser sintering 3D printers are prohibitively expensive, those for metals even more so. They require to have a heat chamber of massive proportions, a super powerful laser, and the material itself ain't cheap either.

  17. @scribus HAHAHA. Sadly no 3D printer that can handle metals. I bought yet another Creality Ender 3 for 150 Eurobucks. A few of my current ones are misbehaving and I'll have then one spare and vanilla one. The others I will extensively upgrade and modify.

  18. Damn. I bought another 3D printer.

  19. @scribus I'd say it's a creative workaround. I also could use a slightly flaky optical mouse that glitches from time to time and moves the mouse cursor slightly despite standing still.

  20. My company laptop is so configured that it automatically locks the screen after 15 minutes of inactivity. There is no way to alter its behaviour because this was set by the admin via a policy. HOWEVER I used a AutoHotkey script that wiggles the mouse by one pixel back and forth once every 14 minutes.

  22. @scribus There has to be some limitation beyond the obvious. I had to change the color range from linear (HDR) to gamma because it was a hard requirement for that. My developer friends are also stumped and cannot help me with educated guesses other than what I've already done.

  23. I'm somewhat unhappy with Unity's HTML5 WebGL export. I have exported my game jam game https://adiwan.itch.io/lasso-loop-whiplash-webgl and it has ugly z-fighting and weird lighting issues at some overlapping geometry. I looked into everything I could, like adjusting the far and near plane or all shadow and lighting settings. I'm stumped. The compiled versions are fine.

  24. @scribus If you have an PS2 EYE-Toy you can use this as a last solution. I think a new one gives you a way better picture than a decade and a half 640x480 webcam.

  25. @scribus The "natural" approach always has some baggage to it. If you're used to drive a lot of remote cars/planes/boats you're fine with tank controls. Some games work better using a mouse pointer to command the character to walk to (Diablo or any good Point & Click adventure). Such decisions are huge and always wrong (for some people).

  27. @scribus I understand. I bought the horse asset and it came with a controller that handles all animation states and inverse kinematics for keeping the hooves on the ground and correct leg poses. It had a function to give the horse a direction to turn and move to and used that. I thought it was "natural" for inputing the direction with WASD and the horse follows that direction. A friend of mine had also problems with that and prefers a GTA1 style of "tank" control, from the perspective of the horse itself.

  28. @scribus What was the problem with the controls?

Tuesday, 06-Oct-20 18:34:16 UTC from web in context
  29. @scribus That's a "problem". It is fun but it ain't helping. I already put 2 times the gravity onto him (the hips). Putting more would create too much friction and force making the physics more unstable.
