  1. @drinkingpony I use a "hot air blower" kind of popcorn machine because I don't like greasy or oily popcorn and a laser is not yet in my possession. Some day I build myself a CNC router with the option to put a 40W laser on it

  2. What's popcorn worth when only half of it pops?

  3. @drinkingpony Ah. I strongly believe that the official one is as dumb as this Chinese copy of yours. The current and voltage is just passed trough 1:1 from one connector to the other. I don't think that the stand has to regulate anything or do any kind of processing. 25€ for that thing is way too overpriced and should cost 1/10th of that.

  6. @scribus Hm. I agree that there are too many spider-themed super heroes at Marvel. Regular Spider-Man, Miles Morales, Spider-Woman, Spider Gwen, Silk, British Spider Man... There was a comic event with all of the spider people but I didn't care to read it. The recent Spider-Verse movie was splendid. I quite enjoyed it.

  7. @scribus Isn't Miles Morales a beloved character? He and Spider Gwen. Both of their universes have a dead Peter Parker.

  8. @scribus I cannot recall that. At least it's not an impostor who was Captain America right after the war

  9. @scribus For those who are tangentially aware of the comics it's not a huge surprise. I don't understand why this can be controversial.

  10. @scribus Tubesnake mixed with "My Neighbour Totoro"'s cat bus definitely!

  11. @scribus I enjoyed it too quite a bit but it was more shocking along the way.

  12. @drinkingpony When a train crashes it involves a lot of damage, destruction, and mayhem. I'd call that grotesque of what is destroyed and left of the train.

  13. Netflix's Tuca & Bertie is Bojack Horseman on steroids with a huge portion of Regular Show. Bizarre like a train crash, you cannot look away although it's grotesque.

  14. @drinkingpony Or use the micro controller idea in a different way: make the micro controller translate the signal of a different remote control that the TV recognizes like in this video https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5yyy7h7qh80

  15. @drinkingpony Well... You could solder tactile switches on the remote control PCB as a last resort. Or buy a cheap universal remote, or make a remote on your own by buying a micro-controller, an IR sensor, an IR LED, and record the IR signals of the original remote and replay them with your own contraption. Or get a Wii U and use its tablet controller to switch channels and such...

  16. @drinkingpony Repair it. Open it and look what's misaligned. When you are at it you can clean the metal contacts.

  17. @scribus It's a super hero movie where the protagonists have the super powers of driving extremely well and the feeling of family.

  18. I'm finished with Splatoon. The ranked battles are not that fun and the regular battles get stale. Also I finished the single-player part of it.
    Up to the next game!

  19. @drinkingpony WTF $150 for cards. I pay a little less for all the comics I read every month.

  21. @drinkingpony oh man. I'm in no way a competitive gamer but that is a little bit crushing. However I was often matched with Level 50 players. The ranked matches are a bit more brutal, especially around 8pm

  22. I'm crushing at Splatoon. Either the others are too lame or I'm too good. I have a win ratio of 90% and I'm mostly the top scoring person.

  24. BTW: If you watch Endgame, then you can walk out during the credits. There is no mid- or end-credits scene. One guy exclaimed at the end "DC is better!" when there was nothing.

  25. @drinkingpony I was at the end of the movie about 20 hours awake. There has to be some leeway in the interpretation of my words. The film was good nonetheless, it kept me awake.

  26. Came out of Endgame 7 hours ago. It ended at 1:45 AM and went straight to bed. Was it worth? Sure. I'm glad I didn't chose a screening on Thursday, otherwise I'd be dead in my car at the side of the road.

  29. Today I was informed that the Adventure Time comic series of its "11th season" was cancelled and the 6th issue is its last. I was hoping that it would last at least 2 years. I hope that the series changes from single issues to straight to tradepaperbacks like Avatar the Last Airbender did straight away.

  30. @scribus Look up "eigenfaces". It's an application of "eigenimages" that use principal component analysis to pictures of human faces. In the process it generates an image that is an "average" image when each image of the set contributes the same amount to the final image. That can be used to recognize faces or morph faces.
The quality depends solely on the image set. The more faces are not aligned the "blurrier" it is and the more nightmarish it becomes.
