@drinkingpony I think solder with Pb is mostly banned because of the problems when recycling. I used both and they are very similar in handling to my layman eyes. People swear on Pb solder because it creates a more flexible joint and is thus more reliable with age and board flex. I cannot confirm that claim. Of course flux is not healthy when inhaled, and is neither Pb. I guess for a hobbyist who uses solder rarely it isn't such a huge problem either way.

@drinkingpony I haven't seen Bob's Burgers in a while but my last impression was that it was alright. Yeah, a bit clingy at times but mostly in a relatable way. I can also see its appeal or lack thereof.
-
@drinkingpony there was an episode in which Bob was Archer
-
@drinkingpony Bob's Burgers alter ego. So yes.
-
Archer is back!

I gave in and I got a Youtube Premium account. I don't care about the original series it offers but the lack of ads is a relief, especially when viewing on the smart tv and tablet, that I use a lot recently. The tablet (a 35€ Amazon Fire HD7) I use especially in the morning when making breakfast and brushing teeth. And then when falling asleep listening to a let's play. And then the TV as a second screen to my laptop. I also use the tablet to control the TV. The TV remote is a bit fiddly to use. Also I can add stuff to the queue while something already plays, quite convenient.

@drinkingpony In Germany I've never got anything like that. In the last election the election helpers had a bowl of candy and I grabbed one piece and that's all.
-
I voted.

@drinkingpony Jesusscript... I'll bet it's the same as JavaScript with the only difference that you have to pray to the holy trinity instead of to the compiler, the framework, and your own sanity.

@thismightbeauser My Little Problem obviously

@drinkingpony There is a mode besides offline?

I got it out of my system: I watched all the leaked MLP episodes. Now I don't feel the burden anymore of knowing that something yet-to-be-watched is available.
-
@drinkingpony I'm just sad that Ryan North did a fantastic job and I imagined that the series could reach 100 issues with no sign of slowing down. A huge drop of readers after a #1 is to be expected. Readers of the series previous run take that as a jump-off point and new readers just try it and decide not to buy anything further. In this case it was the latter.

A tragedy! The Unbeatable Squirrel Girl comic series ends with issue #50. https://www.bleedingcool.com/2019/05/23/unbeatable-squirrel-girl-to-end-at-issue-50/

I replaced my Z lead screw rods on my 3d printers and cleaned the old ones to the point they look almost like new. I'm tempted to send that back to the seller and get a refund. They got a little bit stuck at certain heights consistently so they caused "wobbles" along the Z axis. I'm printing right now something tall and the effect is almost not there anymore. The old rods will be probably used anyway when I try to make a smaller CNC router. For that purpose they are good enough, at least for tinkering.

After what happened in the last few episodes the GOT ending is in my opinion .

@scribus Now you have the opportunity to binge watch EVERYTHING at once with no interruption or hiatuses (hiati?). It'll be only take about 3 days straight!
-
@scribus I have yet to see the Game of Thrones finale. Given how the past episodes were I'll predict that it'll be an "experience".
-
Star vs The Forces of Evil had its final episode and it was a huge convolution of mediocrity and not satisfying plot points. I loved the series, especially in the beginning but the last season was part really cool and part a kiwi show. With the last episode in mind most was irrelevant.

@drinkingpony Simple: I program a program such that people can gain knowledge of a procedure with this program. They interact (although very crudely) with the program and will be guided at each step of the procedure with a narrated text and helpful highlighting of objects. A VR training has the advantage that it can be trained everywhere (where VR headsets are available) and it doesn't disturb the production line. In the case of the robot arm entering the working area of the robot arm shuts it off completely and the production halts.
Why is the industry worse: They don't know what they want and if they say what they want it's usually worse. HEY LET'S GAMIFY IT! >Just a simple highscore list sorted by completion time in its "hardest" difficulty (no guidance with highlighted objects or narration). But what kills me is that they want to use the hard coded steps from the guided difficulties instead of offering more interaction freedom (all objects can be picked up and dropped everywhere) -
@drinkingpony Worse: Industry. This training is about maintenance of a part of a robot arm. In order not to interrupt production VR trainings are created to train off site. My desire to quit and create a game increased rapidly.
-
@scribus Yeah! They don't know what VR is all about. All they care about is: The workers who have to train with this should not kiwi up in any way possible. It's design by committee.
-
I'm extremely frustrated. I have to dumb down my VR training program a lot more than I already have. I'm told that people shouldn't be allowed to drop grabbed items. I mean WTF! They take out all the fun of flinging items around. Also all the dynamic things I've built in should be gone. "Only activate the items that are immediately needed at the moment of the procedure!".

@drinkingpony My soundbar doesn't speak to me. However I'm intrigued to look into Google Home.
-
@drinkingpony LG SK8. I bought that one because I have a LG TV and it sounds OK. I'm not an audiophile but it's completely alright. Better than the thin TV's squeaky speakers. It's a 2.1 system and it is sufficient for me. A surround system would be nice but laying down the cables and finding a place for the rear speakers is too much hassle for me.
-
@scribus Only for the first second but it was very clear to me that bluetooth was the weakpoint.
-
@drinkingpony No. I just deactivated bluetooth pairing through a rather obscure sequence of button presses on the remote.
-
Someone took over my TV soundbar. I operate it via optical cable and I didn't think that bluetooth would be on all the time. A person blasted bad music (hip hop) through my speakers. I had to turn it quickly off and look into the manual how to lock the bluetooth functionality.

@drinkingpony Next time look under your shoes for sticky popcorn.

@scribus A very compelling argument but I'm not that guy who throws around stuff and makes the jobs of the movie theater personnel worse.
